Parco delle Fucine

The third stage of our itinerary to explore Lake Idro and its surroundings is dedicated to exploring the Parco delle Fucine, a green space of rare beauty lying between Val Trompia and Valle Sabbia, easily reached by car along the road from Castro to Alone.

The park is a popular destination for those who love to relax while practising sports in nature. It offers climbing walls, mountains with sheer cliffs, seven Tibetan bridges, four zip lines for adrenalin launches, mountain bike and downhill trails, plus a spectacular path through a natural canyon carved into the rock ( known as the Stretta di Luina).

For families with children, there is no shortage of more leisurely footpaths, a mini adventure park to encourage the first approach to hiking and the mountain environment and cool refreshment points near ponds, waterfalls and viewpoints.

Completing the park's attraction is the historical trail that allows visitors to observe what remains of an old industrial site now in disuse: six forges, a smelting furnace, a caldera and a mill are still visible and in good condition.
