VAGANTES - Music and Poetry from "Carmina Burana" (concert)
Concert as part of MEDFEST2025. In 1158, with the document Autentica habita, Frederick Barbarossa granted privileges to itinerant students known as clerici vagantes, figures halfway between poets and clerics. These students and their teachers left behind an important poetic and musical legacy, preserved in the manuscripts known as the Codex Buranus or Carmina Burana. This repertoire, spread throughout Europe, offers a lively and satirical image of the Middle Ages.

Saint Catherine of Siena (Literary Concert)
As part of the“Le mistiche. Speciale Giubileo” series
Caterina di Jacopo Benincasa played a crucial role in the politics and Church of her time. She championed peace during a turbulent period and convinced the Pope to return to Rome after his exile in Avignon. Her actions made her an authoritative public figure, capable of challenging male hierarchies. Illiterate and the daughter of a dyer, she embodied the cardinal and theological virtues, preaching love, peace, and obedience to the Church. She was incisive in both word and deed. She left behind 382 letters, 22 orations, and 25 elevations. She was canonized in 1461, proclaimed patron saint of Italy in 1939, and a Doctor of the Church in 1970.
Featuring: Performances by Antonetta Carrabs – Iride Enza Funari – Anna Pennati.
