Conferences Marking the 150th Anniversary of the Inauguration of the Milan-Monza Tram Line

"The Horse-Drawn Tram: 1876–2026, a story that’s still running"
The inauguration of the Milan–Monza horse-drawn tram line: July 8, 1876. The inaugural journey of Italy’s first intercity line took place in the presence of the future King Umberto of Savoy. The trip lasted more than an hour, with the horses being changed at intermediate stations to ensure the animals could rest along the entire route. In 1900, the line was electrified. A staged reading specially written by Ettore Radice, featuring two actors and the projection of original images and documents.

"150 Years of Traveling Together: The Tram Is Back on Track"
A reenactment featuring costumed characters from the late 19th century, complete with an 1880 omnibus drawn by two horses. The historic carriage will travel along Via Italia, starting from Largo Mazzini, to reach the Arengario. With music, entertainment, and the opportunity for citizens to ride on the carriage.
