For nearly 100 years, the Caprotti family has been in the lighting business, with a particular predilection for design.Antonio Caprotti, has cultivated friendly relationships with the most famous designers of our time, and has brought their products to the city. From installations ad hoc for the store on Via Carlo Alberto, the "Luminous Divas" by Alessandro Mendini, to the most famous design lamps, such as Castiglioni's Arco, and sketches given by the designers themselves, the guided tour takes us to explore the theme of aesthetics and innovation in everyday objects transformed into small works of art.

The convent and church of Our Lady of Grace were built on the banks of the Lambro River during the 15th century. The industrious Observant Friars Minor added a spinning mill, and the community grew over the centuries, becoming an important spiritual reference point.
The visit, in commemorating the Franciscan presence in Monza on the occasion of the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the saint's death, will illustrate the church and some of the convent's rooms, rich in ancient and modern works of art.

How quickly can the face of a city change? Very, very quickly! In fact, the historic center of the city of Monza during the years of the "twenty-year fascist period" was turned upside down by the construction of new buildings that were to manifest, with new lines and grandiose proportions, the rise and of the new ruling power. Residential buildings, monuments, structures to accommodate political activities, took the place of ancient churches, monasteries, spaces used for daily city life.
In this new itinerary we discover the most significant transformations, amid symbols and new architectural languages, and how today they have become an integral part of the city and its history.

The ART OF REMEMBRANCE: MONZA'S URBAN CEMETERY
The city's memory unfolds among its streets, buildings, monuments dedicated to the greats of the past, memorial plaques and street titling. But there is one place where, more than any other, in the stillness and silence is preserved the memory of those who animated the city and participated in it in the past: the Urban Cemetery of Monza, a "new Monumental" in the territory. Created after the closure of the old cemetery of San Gregorio, it corresponds today to the project realized by architect Ulisse Stacchini in the first half of the 20th century and houses important funerary monuments made - among others - by the famous sculptor Ernesto Bazzaro, Giannino Castiglioni and Antonio Sant'Elia.

VIMERCATI HATS: THE TRADITION THAT RENEWS!
Along the course of the Lambro River, near the city of Monza, numerous industrial activities developed over time. The most famous production, which launched the economy in the 19th century, was that of felt hats. Today, only one artisanal hat factory survives in Monza: Vimercati Hats During the tour, company staff will explain to visitors how felt hats are made, while the tour guide will reenact the history of Monza's hat factories and the customs and traditions of this thriving industry.

THE TREASURE OF THEODOLINDA: FROM THE LONGBARD SPLENDOR TO OUR DAYS 
The Cathedral of Monza was founded at the end of the 6th century by Theodolinda, queen of the Lombards, and rebuilt from the year 1300 at the behest of the Visconti, dukes of Milan. The church, from its origins, has always had a "royal" connotation, and its fame grew over time thanks also to the rich treasure it holds: objects of high goldsmithing, works of art and especially the precious relic of the Sacred Nail that - it is said - is included in the Iron Crown, the diadem that from Charlemagne onwards has trod the heads of the Kings of Italy and that today is preserved in the Chapel painted by the Zavattari with the stories of Queen Theodolinda. The Museum, on the other hand, houses the Lombard Treasure, including the famous Chioccia with the chicks, the sapphire chalice and the Cross of the Kingdom, as well as a rich collection that testifies to the city's history and devotion to its basilica; a treasure that over the centuries continues to be enriched with modern testimonies of faith, bringing visitors face to face with medieval sculptures, Renaissance paintings and works of art by artists such as Lucio Fontana, Luciano Minguzzi and Sandro Chia.

CHURCHESHIPS DISCOVERED IN MONZA'S HISTORIC CENTER
Places that give a sense of familiarity and security with their silent presence, in the background of our lives: these are perhaps the characteristics that best describe three historic buildings in Monza, not too well known to the city's inhabitants themselves and that will instead be the protagonists of this new itinerary. The first stop will be at the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, rebuilt in neo-Gothic style and custodian of a precious 14th-century fresco from the no longer existing Longobard church of San Michele; then San Pietro Martire, home of the old Dominican convent and the Inquisition Tribunal, and then on to the more centrally located Santa Maria in Strada, recently restored and where the oldest traces of fresco painting in the city are kept.

IL CONVENTO DEL CARROBIOLO DI MONZA E LA SUA BIBLIOTECA 
In the heart of Monza rises, a bit out of the usual shopping streets, the complex of the church of Santa Maria al Carrobiolo with the adjoining convent that has housed, since the 16th century, the community of the Barnabite Fathers. These religious, taking over from the previous order of the Umiliati, helped to enlarge and embellish the church, in which notable works are preserved today, including several altarpieces by Simone Peterzano, the master of the young Caravaggio. The adjoining convent, on the other hand, houses a valuable panel painted by Antonio Campi and, in the small inner chapel, a very rich 17th-century marble and stone altar. Completing the visit is the chance to admire some of the oldest printed texts preserved in the convent's library: precious rarities that make up one of the city's most important "hidden treasures."

The conclusion of the restorations to the Teatrino di Corte of the Villa Reale allows us to rediscover this fascinatingand little-known place, commissioned by Eugene de Beauharnais in the early 19th century, which saw the participation of great artists such as Giovanni Perego and Andrea Appiani.
You will be able to admire the restored stage machinery under the stage and the Napoleonic decorative apparatuses, which make it - despite its small size - a precious jewel among Italian theaters of the period.
