MONZA BETWEEN THE 1920s AND THE 1930s
How quickly can the face of a city change? Very, very quickly! In fact, the historic center of the city of Monza during the years of the "twenty-year fascist period" was turned upside down by the construction of new buildings that were to manifest, with new lines and grandiose proportions, the rise and of the new ruling power. Residential buildings, monuments, structures to accommodate political activities, took the place of ancient churches, monasteries, spaces used for daily city life.
In this new itinerary we discover the most significant transformations, amid symbols and new architectural languages, and how today they have become an integral part of the city and its history.

The ART OF REMEMBRANCE: MONZA'S URBAN CEMETERY
The city's memory unfolds among its streets, buildings, monuments dedicated to the greats of the past, memorial plaques and street titling. Created after the closure of the old cemetery of San Gregorio, it corresponds today to the project realized by architect Ulisse Stacchini in the first half of the 20th century and houses important funerary monuments made - among others - by the famous sculptor Ernesto Bazzaro, Giannino Castiglioni and Antonio Sant'Elia.
