Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena

Edified in the 14th century close to the Visconti castle, of which one of the surrounding towers on the river remains, it was the seat of the Umiliati friars known as the "House of Bernareggio" and occupied an area that extended southeast from Via di Strada, the main route to Milan, today Via Italia, to the Lambro river.

In its present form the church, with a single hall and two side chapels, was erected in the early 17th century, differing from the original form according to the ministerial styles of the Benedictine sisters. In 1859, enlarged and partially rebuilt, the complex again became a women's monastery, still occupied by the Perpetual Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament.
