Rambotti Museum
Located in an area rich in Bronze Age testimonies, it offers a wide panorama of the prehistoric cultures of Garda
The Rambotti Museum was dedicated to Giovanni Rambotti, the first mayor of Desenzano and among the ones who got interested in archaeological excavations in this land.
It keeps an extraordinary archaeological heritage from the Bronze Age which records the evidence of stilted settlements on the shores of the Garda and basins of the moraine areas.
A visit to it allows visitors to get a more detailed approach to daily life at the time - this comprises the renowned plow of Lavagnone, perfectly preserved from the year 2000 B.C. making it the oldest one in the world - plus pottery, metallurgy and handcrafting of items made in flint, bone and horn, all of it arranged in a faithful reenactment inside the stilt house. There are two chambers in the ground floor that display numerous finds that go from Roman times to the Renaissance.
It makes part of the archaeological museum network from the provinces of Brescia, Cremona and Mantua, the GardaMusei Association and the Musei e luoghi di cultura dei Colli morenici del Garda (Garda moraines culture and Peaks) network.
