Basilica minore of Lonato
Churches at Lonato del Garda
A perfect example of Baroque architecture, the Basilica Minore was built by architect Paolo Soratini of Lonato.
The overhead dome and the façade decorated with marble elements are noteworthy. The present church is the third reconstruction, in the same place and in 1980 it received the title of Basilica Minore with the attached privileges from Pope John Paul II.
It is enhanced inside by fresco decorations, stuccoes and altarpieces by Venetian artists, including Balestra, Cignaroli and Licino.
