Infopoint Discover Parre
Discover Parre, a terrace over the magnificent valleys
Here, nature provides unique emotions. The Vaccaro Refuge and the surrounding mountains, such as Mt. Vaccaro and Mt. Trevasco, offer trails through green pastures, silent forests, and views that enchant.
The Dossana Valley, with the striking Santa Barbara Tunnel and the Red Square Mine Bridge, recounts a past linked to the land, while the Giant Bench on Mount Alino is the perfect place to admire the beauty of the valley from above. For adventure seekers, the Corna de Par Crag is a true climbing paradise, while places like Cima Leten, Cima Fop and Cima Forcella invite experienced hikers to test themselves. There is no shortage of magic in the hamlet of S. Alberto, where the "Dancing Bridge" provides a fun and carefree experience.
But Parre is not only nature: it is also a journey into the authentic flavors of Alpine tradition. At the table, the local cuisine conquers with its typical dishes, such as the "capù," savoy cabbage rolls with a simple and tasty heart, and the famous "Scarpinòcc," stuffed pasta symbol of the village. There is no shortage of "gnòch in còla," simple and lawful gnocchi, and "bèrgna," sheep meat that celebrates the centuries-old tradition of sheep farming. All accompanied by alpine cheeses and artisanal cured meats, a riot of flavors that tells the soul of Parre.
Parre's history is rooted in a past more than 3,000 years old. The "Parra Oppidum degli Orobi," with its Archaeological Park and Antiquarium, is one of the most important pre-Alpine sites in Lombardy and reveals the village's deep connection with its origins. Among its churches, the Parish Church of St. Peter, the Church of St. Rocco and the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity - a stop on the Alta Via delle Grazie route - tell of a heritage of art and spirituality. No less fascinating are the Church of St. Anthony at Monte Alino and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the hamlet of Ponte Selva, as well as the Church of St. Pasquale Baylon in the hamlet of Martorasco. Among the historic residences, the Cominelli House, former "cradle" of the von Paar Princes, stands out, as does the Pierina House, guardian of a rural and authentic past.
Finally, Parre is a village that thrives on traditions handed down from generation to generation. From the folklore of the typical Parre costume to sheep farming, celebrated through the "Gaì," everything here speaks of a deep connection with the land. Industrial history also finds space in the Pozzi - Electa factory, located in the hamlet of Ponte Selva, which bears witness to an important chapter in the territory's past.
Parre is all this: a place where nature, culture, history and traditions come together, giving an unforgettable experience to anyone who chooses to visit it.
