The frog is the iconic symbol of the Lomellina, a fertile plain renowned for its rich agricultural heritage, historic farmsteads, castles, and picturesque villages. This unique land is bordered by the Ticino River to the east, the Po River to the south, the Sesia River to the west, and the historic spring line (fontanili) to the north.

The local culinary tradition celebrates the frog through a variety of classic recipes, including golden fried frogs "all'Angiolina", polenta with frogs, and risotto with frog livers.

The festival menu also features a wide selection of traditional dishes, including fried specialities, mixed grilled meats, premium local cured meats, and regional cheeses. To finish on a sweet note, visitors can enjoy Le Sartirane biscuits, Le Sartiriso shortbread biscuits, homemade cakes, and artisan ice cream.

The Sartirana Lomellina Frog Festival returns from 4 to 6 September 2026 for its 54th edition, once again confirming its place as one of the most popular food festivals in the Lomellina area and throughout the Province of Pavia.

A Celebration of Flavour and Tradition

The festival is famous across the province for its authentic gastronomic specialities. In the village's summer garden restaurant, visitors will have the opportunity to savour frogs prepared according to traditional Lomellina recipes, alongside many other local dishes showcasing the area's finest products.

Live music and entertainment will accompany the event throughout the weekend, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
