The Sunday Market at Tenuta Lamercurina
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 11 am to 8 pm, Tenuta Lamercurina in Pieve del Cairo, in the Province of Pavia, opens its doors for the fourth edition of “Tenuta – The Sunday Market”, a day in the countryside organised by the Darefrutto Foundation.
The event brings together local crafts and products, culture, live music and food in a rural setting in the heart of Lomellina. Admission to the market is free.
Tenuta Lamercurina is part of VisitPavia’s Active & Green destinations and is one of the places in the Province of Pavia where nature, agriculture and the preservation of rural heritage come together.
The Sunday Market: crafts, creativity and local products
From 11 am to 8 pm, the Tenuta hosts The Sunday Market, with exhibitors dedicated to creativity, crafts and local products.
Visitors can browse the stalls, meet artisans and local producers, and discover handmade items, farm products and goods connected with the local area.
It is a simple and informal way to experience the Tenuta at the relaxed pace of a day in the countryside, surrounded by green spaces and the historic rural buildings restored by the Darefrutto Foundation.
Sunday Lunch with Acquadolce from Mezzana Bigli
At 1 pm, the programme includes The Sunday Lunch, prepared by Acquadolce from Mezzana Bigli.
The menu includes a first course, main course, dessert and wine, offering a selection of food inspired by the local area.

Rice Fields, Books, Music and Other Stories
The fourth edition of the Sunday Market also features a cultural and music programme under the title “Rice Fields, Books, Music and Other Stories”.
Paolo Stella presents his latest book
Writer and author Paolo Stella will be one of the guests at the event, presenting his latest book, “True”.
A book signing will also take place in collaboration with Ubik Bookshop in Vigevano.
The event offers an opportunity to meet the author and discover his work in the unique setting of the rice fields and rural landscape of Lomellina.
Live music with Rosanna Piccinni
The day will feature live music by Rosanna Piccinni, a singer and performer returning to the Tenuta following her successful appearance at the Blue Note.
Together with her musicians, she will provide the soundtrack to the day in the open spaces of the estate.
Photographer and storyteller Stefano Mattiocco
Stefano Mattiocco, photographer and storyteller, will also be taking part in the event.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover his work, view his photographic projects and meet him at the Tenuta.
Tenuta Lamercurina: a biodiversity haven in the heart of Lomellina
Tenuta Lamercurina, located at Via Cascina San Marzano 5, along the SP 194 in Pieve del Cairo, is a historic estate once owned by Milanese high society and now at the centre of an extensive restoration and enhancement project.
The estate includes rice-growing farmland, woodland, waterways and natural habitats characterised by significant biodiversity. According to the Darefrutto Foundation, the property includes approximately 189 hectares of agricultural land, mainly devoted to rice cultivation, and 54 hectares of ancient alder woodland.
One of the estate’s most interesting natural features is the alder woodland, a wetland habitat associated with the presence of water and home to a heronry where several species of herons nest.
Rice cultivation is at the heart of the estate’s agricultural identity. Several varieties are grown on its land, including Carnaroli, Vialone Nano and Baldo, combining agricultural production with environmental conservation.
The Darefrutto Foundation and the regeneration project
The estate is at the centre of a regeneration project promoted by the Darefrutto Foundation, aimed at restoring and enhancing its rural, natural and environmental heritage.
The goal is to transform this area of Lomellina into an increasingly accessible place dedicated to biodiversity, environmental education, culture, learning and the rediscovery of local agricultural traditions.
The project also includes activities for schools, families and businesses, as well as nature trails and initiatives focusing on rice cultivation and the landscape of the rice fields.
Taking part in events at the Tenuta also means supporting this long-term project.
An autumn day in the Pavia area of Lomellina
Tenuta – The Sunday Market is an opportunity to discover a lesser-known part of Lomellina and spend a day surrounded by countryside, crafts, food and culture.
The October date also makes the event a good starting point for an autumn itinerary through the Province of Pavia, exploring the rice-field landscapes, villages of Lomellina and the area’s food and wine traditions.
