CapoVolti

L2Arte Young Project launches its programme dedicated to emerging artists with CapoVolti, the first solo exhibition by Andrea Cornalba, known as CRArt, hosted at the L2Arte gallery in Pavia.

The project aims to offer new generations of artists more than simply an exhibition space. It provides an opportunity for research, exchange and professional growth through curatorial dialogue, exhibition design and interaction with the public. From Pavia, L2Arte Young Project thus begins a programme open to new connections between artists, curators, collectors, institutions and local communities.

With CapoVolti, CRArt explores the relationship between memory, identity and the transformation of images, questioning the stability of the face and the portrait. His artistic research starts from images that appear to come from a distant past and subjects them to a process of fragmentation and transformation.

Portraits, oil paintings and ornamental frames recall the tradition of art history, but are reinterpreted through tears, discontinuities and empty spaces. The face loses its integrity and becomes an image to be reconstructed, creating a dialogue between the past and the way we observe and interpret images today.

In a present dominated by digital images, filters and increasingly standardised ideals of beauty, CRArt focuses on imperfection, fragments and fractures, transforming them into tools for artistic research.

An image temporarily removed from sight and memory can thus be rediscovered and acquire a new meaning. The frame, traditionally an element that separates and preserves the artwork, also becomes part of this process. Colours and discontinuities alter its unity, suggesting an idea of art as something unfinished, capable of being questioned and transformed again.

CapoVolti represents the first chapter of L2Arte Young Project, a programme dedicated to new voices in contemporary art and to the discovery and support of artistic research capable of interpreting the transformations of the present.
