The first Pieve of the Staffora Valley in Varzi, built not long after the death of St. Germanus, bishop of Auxerre, which occurred in 448 AD
The Church of the Capuchins, whose construction dates back to the late 12th century, features a facade made of brick and stone, enriched over time by valuable frescoes and later restored, after a period of neglect, by the Capuchin friars in 1623.
The friars built a convent next to the church and dedicated themselves to it until the Napoleonic era, when it was suppressed.
After a hundred years, the Capuchins regained possession of the church, which had been sold at auction, and restored it to its ancient Romanesque character, rediscovering a fine fresco attributed to the brothers Franceschino and Manfredino Baxilio, probably from 1484.
