Bipielle Center
From an architectural point of view, it is perhaps Lodi's most interesting building from the second half of the Twentieth Century.
The Bipielle Center was designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop Architects studio and serves as the headquarters for the Banca Popolare di Lodi Group and as a shared space for the common public.
It hosts several shops, cafés, a gym and the Water Flower, a spectacular fountain-sculpture made by Japanese artist Susumu Shingu. There is also a large, round-shaped auditorium that can host 800 visitors and boasts remarkable acoustics. It is almost as if music and sound guided the architect's hand during its design.
A glass and steel tensile structure connects the Auditorium with the rest of the buildimg. The Bipielle Center is a few steps away from Lodi's railway station and the city center. It blends with the rest of the historic center due to the discerning use of adobes and other natural materials that resemble terracotta from Lodi's churches, farmhouses and fortified walls.
