Waiting for the “Sanremo”

The Milano-Sanremo sets off from Pavia. For the second consecutive year, our city has the honor of hosting the start of one of the most beloved and iconic races in world cycling. A year in which the Province of Pavia will also welcome the Giro d’Italia and the Giro d’Italia Women.

The anticipation for the “Classicissima di Primavera” therefore goes beyond the start line: from 14 to 21 March 2026, Pavia invites residents and visitors to “feel the energy of great cycling” through a citywide calendar of events.

“Waiting for the Sanremo” is a program of initiatives celebrating sport, culture, and the local territory — from themed games for younger audiences to talks with leading voices in sports commentary, as well as amateur rides through the streets of the city and province. A unique opportunity to discover a vibrant Pavia, ready to welcome champions and everyone who loves cycling in a land devoted to quality living.

Saturday, 14 March

3:00 pm – 5:00 pm: “La mini classicissima” at the Campo CONI — an amateur ride for children and young people organized by ASD AVIS Ciclismo Pavia
3:00 pm – 7:00 pm: “Flamme Rouge” at the Sala Discover (Piazza Vittoria) — cycling board-game session for ages 14+, promoted by APS Aerel
9:00 pm: Monologue by Antonio Ramaioli and Bruno Cerutti at the Teatro Volta, promoted by Associazione INCIPIT

Sunday, 15 March

9:00 am: “Pavia–Binasco Cycling Ride” — departure from Piazza Leonardo da Vinci for a 40-km route, organized by Associazione INCIPIT with FIAB Pavia
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm: “A Traveller by Bike” at Sala Discover — meeting with writer Stefano Giorgi and presentation of his books linked to World Bicycle Relief projects
