Discover them all on the spectacular Via dei Terrazzamenti wine tour, which snakes through the Rhaetian Alps, a landscape adorned with vineyards and drystone walls.
In the centre is Sondrio, with its refined piazzas and palazzos. On special occasions, the town showcases the best of local gastronomy. In August, the “Calici di Stelle” event is the perfect opportunity to try the best in local winemaking, including wines Valtellina Superiore Docg and Sforzato Docg, Rosso di Valtellina Doc and Terrazze Retiche Igt di Sondrio.
The restaurants lay on themed menus celebrating local delicacies such as pizzoccheri pasta, bresaola Igp and cheeses Dop, Valtellina Bitto and Casera. An array of mountain pasture cheeses take centre stage for “Formaggi in Piazza” in October.
