The village of Santa Cristina was already mentionedin the most ancient of all the logs kept by travellerson the Via Francigena - that of Sigeric, Archbishopof Canterbury dating from the tenth century.The spiritual and logistic importance of SantaCristina was due to the presence of an importantMonastery (Via Dante), although today onlythe medieval plan and the eighteenth centuryrebuilding are visible. Within one of the doublelancet windows, there are still four small columnsoriginally from the royal palace of Corteolona.
