Picasso Metamorphosis
Booking is recommended and you can do it online: Picasso Metamorphosis promises to be a sell-out. The exhibition revisits the work of the founder of Cubism from an unusual perspective, exploring his relationship with ancient art.
Some 200 of the artist’s works are collected at Palazzo Reale, exhibited alongside pottery, vases, statues, votive plaques, reliefs, idols and stelae. This is the repertoire that inspired the Spanish master’s mythology (he regularly visited the Louvre, among other museums).
The exhibition is divided into six sections. Enjoy making comparisons in the Mythology of the Kiss section where the Demoiselles D’Avignon rub shoulders with Rodin's Kiss, and Paolo and Francesca by Ingres. Discover the Ovid illustrated by Picasso in “L’antichità delle Metamorfosi”.
