Gandino Spinato Corn: From the Field to the Table
From September 25 to October 4, 2026, the medieval village of Gandino in Val Seriana (BG) will become the capital of flavor and traditions with the 19th edition of “I Giorni del Melgotto”, organized by the Gandino Spiny Corn Community.
The event, created to highlight this ancient variety—which first arrived in Lombardy in 1632—features two weekends of themed lunches and dinners, cultural events, and musical performances.
The initiative is part of the project “Territori in Luce…tra artigianato, tradizioni popolari e devozioni”, coordinated by Promoserio and supported by the Lombardy Region through the Lombardia Style 2026 call for proposals.
The territory of the Cinque Terre della Val Gandino (Gandino, Leffe, Casnigo, Cazzano Sant’Andrea, and Peia) is recognized as a De.C.O. (Municipal Designation of Origin) certified cultivation area to protect the Spinato corn supply chain.
