Lecco Città dei Promessi Sposi 2025
From October 3 to 5, 2025, Lecco will host a new edition of the Festival "Lecco Città dei Promessi Sposi," the great cultural event that every year celebrates the figure of Alessandro Manzoni and his indissoluble bond with the City.
In the absence for the second consecutive year of the physical place par excellence of Manzoni's memory, Villa Manzoni, affected by the major renovation works that will return it in all its beauty, the festival wanted to take this opportunity not only to involve different venues (Officina Badoni, Palazzo delle Paure, Palazzo Belgiojoso, Canottieri Lecco, Villa Gomes and Villa Ghislanzoni) but also to promote a reflection on the very future of the Manzonian museum.
Under the title "The Museum to Come: Manzoni is ...," the 2025 edition of "Lecco Città dei Promessi Sposi "therefore focuses on the idea of a living heritage, capable of uniting past and future, memory and innovation, literary tradition and new forms of language with widespread events and meetings.
The Festival is promoted by the Municipality of Lecco, under the artistic direction of Mauro Rossetto, director of the Museo Manzoniano and the Sistema Museale Urbano Lecchese (Si.M.U.L.), and with the contribution of Regione Lombardia - Assessorato alla Cultura and the patronage of the Ministry of Education / Ufficio Scolastico Provinciale di Lecco. Main sponsor of the initiative is Acinque.
Also supporting the project are: Assocultura / 50&Più, Como Lecco Chamber of Commerce, Treccani Cultura, F.A.I., Res musica, L.T.M., Fondazione Luigi Clerici / Istituto musicale "Zelioli," Officina Badoni / Fondazione Comunitaria del Lecchese, DescriVedendo, ASPOC, F.A.N.D., Compagnia teatrale San Giovanni and Canottieri Lecco.
The program of "Lecco Città dei Promessi Sposi" is completed with the "Fuorifestival": workshops on Tuesday, Oct. 7, Thursday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 9 dedicated to children; the creative seminar "Design gadgets for the new Manzoni Museum in Lecco" on Oct. 18 in collaboration with Legea; the XXI edition of the International Prize "A. Manzoni - City of Lecco" with the award for the historical novel (Saturday, Oct. 25) and the award for lifetime achievement by Confcommercio/50& Più, illustrated by President Eugenio Milani, who emphasized both the renewal of the jury of experts and the involvement in the awarding for the historical novel of a popular jury of as many as 135 readers.
Also in the Festival program is the 52nd edition of the Manzonian Walk, Sunday, October 5. Registration is already open! For information visit the dedicated website: Camminata Manzoniana
