Villago offers a special guided tour of the historic village of Caglio, the pearl of Valassina, to discover a mountain community embellished by great artists and wealthy industrialists.
We will start our tour from the medieval streets of the historic center, where over the centuries the skilled local stonecutters, working the stones of the mountain, have been able to create suggestive corners, important rural courts and prestigious residences.
Continuing along the streets of the town, we will be able to discover the local attractions, but above all the life of this community over time, positively influenced in the 1900s by its illustrious guests.
First, we will meet the great painter Giovanni Segantini, of whom we will be able to admire some of his works reproduced in the heart of Caglio, but also learn about how the artist was influenced by this wonderful village.
Next, we will tell you about a great pioneer of transport and important Milanese industrialists, who loved these mountains, and who spent their holidays here, between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, in prestigious hotels or beautiful private villas. .
In particular, to recall these moments of the past, we will let you visit the panoramic hotel Santa Valeria, a real “Milanese living room” in the heart of Valassina, which helped transform this town of stonecutters and farmers into a trendy tourist destination … at least until the 1960s.
