By train in the snow

Lombardy offers fantastic scenery and many excellent options for those who want to take a mountain vacation or just spend a weekend in the snow.

And if you don't feel like getting in a car and want to avoid the queues, it may be a good idea to take the train and travel to some of the most beautiful ski resorts in the region, reading a good book or admiring the view from the window.

For those who love to ski , Lombardy is an area rich in opportunities, being able to count on as many as 100 peaks over 3,000 meters, but above all more than 70 ski resorts with 390 ski lifts, for a total of no less than 12,300 km of slopes.

The mountains in Lombardy appeal not only to expert skiers, but in general to all fans of skiing and other winter sports, from dog sledding to ice skating, to quiet snowshoeing while breathing fresh clean air, surrounded by greenery. Then perhaps refresh yourself at the table with the many goodies served in mountain lodges and restaurants.

One of the most lively and fascinating destinations is Valmalenco, surrounded by the peaks of the Rhaetian Alps. The valley can be experienced in the round, even trying your hand at snowboarding or cross-country skiing. There are also two rinks dedicated to ice skating, in Lanzada and Caspoggio. As far as skiing is concerned, the Alpe Palù ski area can be reached from Chiesa Valmalenco by a capacious cable car with as many as 160 seats per cabin.

Also in Valtellina, the Aprica&Corteno ski area offers 50 km of slopes. From easy to challenging trails, which descend from an altitude of 2300 to the village through rich pine forests. Skiing but not only: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, fat biking and more.

All in all, going to the mountains and enjoying the charms of the snow is a fun and healthy experience, both for experienced skiers and simple outdoor enthusiasts.
