A day in Chiareggio

A gem in Valmalenco

In the high part of Valmalenco, it is one of the most characteristic settlements in the Alps. Set at 1600 meters of altitude, this typical alpine village is dipped in the snow in winter and framed by well kept lawns in summer. It is not rare to come upon rapacious during the winter, as in summer marmots have done their fixed home. In winter 3 hotels and a restaurant welcome the numerous tourists wishing to plunge in an uncontaminated nature. The only viable road is closed to traffic and the ways to join Chiareggio are many. On foot, with snowshoes, with cross-counrty skis thanks to the well kept ring departing from St. Joseph and finally with the private snowmobile service organized by the open hotels and restaurant. The typical dishes of Valtellina are always available in the hotels and restaurants of Chiareggio but the chefs know how to surprise their clients with "out of traditional dishes" but rigorously homemade.
