OPENING: in spring for ski mountaineering and from mid-June until mid-
September.

The shelter hosts the mountaineers who are willing to ascend Piz Bernina and the neighbouring peaks.

AS IT IS REACHED: leaving from Campo Moro, follow the signs for the Carate shelter and from there, walk through the Bocchetta delle Forbici and enter the realm of the “Giants of the Alps”. The area is characterized by austere landscapes: woods, clearings and pastures give way to scree and glaciers.
