Organ-Making Museum

The handicraft production of the family's workshops of Lingiardi, Franceschini, Inzoli and Tamburini overcame the national borders spreading in Great Britain, America and Japan.
Crema, in fact, can boast a famous tradition in the art of making organs which, in the first half of the 20th Century, became quite famous at International level. The town is the seat of some handicraft workshops which produce and restore organs and make organ pipes for the most famous organ-players . In the town there is a professional training school where you can learn how to make and restore the instruments.
Important musicians like Vincenzo Petrali, Giovanni Bottesini and Stefano Pavesi, were born in Crema; they have produced holy and  profane music tracks appreciated all  over Europe.
The town’s municipality enhances the value of this handicraft tradition  with a specific section in the town museum, opened thanks to the support of Cariplo Foundation and Banca del Monte di Lombardia Foundation.
The visitor has the possibility to visit two rooms of the Town Museum in Crema dedicated to the organ-making tradition.
The Museum’s first room is focused on the instruments, the organ pipes and the protagonists of this handicraft tradition (please pay special attention to the windows dedicated to Pacifico Inzoli). This room is adapt also the youngest visitors who can use a multimedia tool similar to a complete organ with double  keyboard. It allows to discover the world of the organs and of the professionals connected to them. In the second room you can find a workshop where you can understand the different phases of the instrument’s production: from the pipes to the final instrument.
