Preview of the celebrations for the 1,400th anniversary of Queen Teodolinda’s death
From manuscripts originating in northern and southern Italy, songs representing the authentic music of the Lombard era have been handed down to us. They celebrate the most solemn feasts of the year and the saints most revered by the long-bearded people, such as Michael and St. John the Baptist: to the latter, the true patron saint of the Lombard nation, Theodolinda had the great basilica of Monza dedicated. It is precisely from the manuscripts of the Capitular Library of Monza and the Office of St. John that the program for this unprecedented concert takes its inspiration, offering a glimpse into the lesser-known period of Lombard history on the Italian Peninsula.
Friday, October 2, 9:00 p.m. - Monza, Cathedral
