Giro d'Italia 2026 in the province of Pavia
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the province of Pavia will be transformed into a world-class cycling stage. Stage 15 of the Giro d'Italia 2026, the 157-kilometer Voghera-Milan stage, will travel through the heart of Oltrepò Pavese before launching towards the Milanese finish line. For the municipalities of Voghera, Casteggio, Broni, Stradella, Belgioioso and Pavia, it is an event not to be missed.
The route of Stage 15: from Voghera to Milan via the province of Pavia
The fifteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2026 is a completely flat stage designed for sprinters with only 200 meters of total elevation gain. Starting from Voghera - the historic capital of Oltrepò Pavese - the pink caravan will ride up the Lombardy plains to the finish in Milan, partly retracing the route of the historic Voghera-Milan, then entering the final city circuit of 16.3 kilometers to be repeated four times.
The route's stages in the province of Pavia
The caravan departs Voghera at 13:40 and heads north up the plain. The first major center is Casteggio, where passage is expected between 14:06 and 14:14, then along the Via Emilia, in order: Santa Giuletta, Redavalle and Broni around 14:15. Stradella is reached between 14:20 and 14:22, and after crossing the Po at Spessa Belgioioso is crossed between 14:39 and 14:42. The group then enters Pavia between 2:55 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., before continuing on to Certosa and heading into the Lombard capital.
Times are approximate and subject to official changes by the organization.
The route variation: why cyclists cross Broni
The original route has undergone a significant modification due to active construction sites at the bridge over the Po in Bressana. The detour has led to a rethinking of the route in the eastern quadrant of the Pavia territory, with an unexpected and positive consequence for many municipalities: the runners will pass through the historic center of Broni instead of limiting themselves to the suburbs.
The athletes will enter the city coming from Casteggio, via the Via Marconi traffic circle, and will run along the entire urban axis of via Emilia, with Piazza Garibaldi as the heart of local hospitality. In Stradella, on the other hand, the passage will be faster, along State Road 10 near the train station, for reasons of road conditions and public order.
Voghera, starting city: history and territory
The Stage 15 starts from Voghera Cathedral Square, with the athletes' signing scheduled at 1:13 p.m. and the official start at 1:40 p.m.. Voghera is the main city of the Oltrepò Pavese: located along the historic communication routes between the Po Valley and the Ligurian Apennines, it preserves an historic center with medieval and Renaissance testimonies, including the Castello Visconteo and the Duomo di San Lorenzo.
The Voghera area is also a land of culinary excellence: the pepper of Voghera (Slow Food Presidium and De.C.O.) and the mostarda of Voghera represent two symbols of a cuisine deeply rooted in local tradition. Oltrepò is also one of the largest wine-producing areas in Italy, with some 13,000 hectares of vineyards and nationally recognized productions of Pinot Noir, Bonarda and Buttafuoco.
The final circuit in Milan and the sprint to the finish
After leaving the province of Pavia, the caravan will enter the final Milanese circuit of 16.3 km - flat, on wide avenues with few curves - to be ridden four times. The last corner is about 2 km from the finish; the final straight, paved and 8 meters wide, is the ideal stage for a group sprint. Stage 15 is traditionally the stage dedicated to the pure sprinters before the start of the third alpine week.
