Vincenzo Bianchi Art Exhibition
Villa Monastero a Villa Monastero in Varenna hosts the exhibition dedicated to the Romantic painter
From 11 November to 27 January Villa Monastero offers an interesting exhibition dedicated to the painter Vincenzo Bianchi (1822-1870), who was able to illustrate the territory of Lecco with great sensitivity.
Through his works, mostly unpublished, presented in the evocative setting of the historic Lariano mansion owned by the Province of Lecco, the artist reveals unexpected qualities of landscape artist, entering fully into the broader contemporary Lombard romantic climate.
Views of the lake made in the mid-nineteenth century alternate with images of lively villages of Como, particularly attractive for the compositional cut and the refined color choice, as pointed out by the curator of the exhibition Sergio Rebora. Some can be compared to the masterpieces of the Veronese Giuseppe Canella, leader of romantic landscape painting, as the scholar who has retraced the painter's artistic life, identifying the biographical data hitherto unknown.
