Vacationing on the water
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the birth of the Province of Lecco, Villa Monastero, Villa Greppi and the Monastery of Santa Maria del Lavello have been united in a special tour through the Villeggiatura sull'acqua initiative, which features a selection of prints and drawings depicting the lake and Brianza.
At Villa Monastero in Varenna, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 23, a series of engravings taken from 19th-century prints will be on view at the House Museum, allowing the public to immerse themselves in the evocative atmosphere of the Lake Como landscape.
In the charming barn of Villa Greppi, in Monticello Brianza, from October 25 to November 9, an exhibition entirely dedicated to the landscape of nineteenth-century Brianza, depicted in drawings and watercolors by the noble artist Alessandro Greppi, will be held.
The Monastery of Santa Maria del Lavello, in Calolziocorte, will offer, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 23, a selection of engravings illustrating the theme of vacationing in the villas of delight in the area and along the eastern branch of Lake Como.
The initiatives will be enriched by the lecture, curated by Pietro Dettamanti, Il Lago di Como e le sue ville nelle pagine dei viaggiatori stranieri dell'Ottocento: da Stendhal a Liszt, a Flaubert, scheduled on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Fermi Hall, and by two concerts entitled Salotto Ghislanzoni. Music and Poetry in the Age of Scapigliatura, scheduled for Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. in the Villa Greppi barn and Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. at Villa Monastero.
