Accademia Carrara ospita una mostra dedicata al genio di Giacomo Quarenghi, architetto bergamasco nella San Pietroburgo imperiale.

In 10 sezioni, la mostra illustra le modalità operative dell'artista e le sue doti di disegnatore.

Quarenghi, sotto l'egida dell'imperatrice Caterina II di Russia e poi del figlio Alessandro, ha svolto un ruolo fondamentale nella trasformazione di San Pietroburgo in una capitale europea.

 

L'Accademia Carrara insieme alla Biblioteca Civica Angelo Mai, custodiscono uno dei fondi quarenghiani più ricchi, ancora poco conosciuto. Le opere conservate testimoniano il talento del Quarenghi, la sua grande sapienza ed eleganza.

 

Le 10 sezioni della mostra raccolgono una selezione di circa 70 fogli estratti dal fondo della Carrara.
