Picnic areas - Alpe Piazzola

Alpe Piazzola, within the territory of Castello dell'Acqua, is  a panoramic terrace in the Orobic Alps, which offers one of the most beautiful sights over the valley floor. 

Alpe Piazzola can be reached by car after purchasing a permit.

As an alternative, it is also possibile to opt for a walk or a not too demanding ride by e-bike. Leave your car at the parking close to the Sports Center in Castello dell'Acqua and follow the paved road that crosses ancient settlements surrounded by chestnut woods. The last section of the route is a dirt road that reaches the huts at Alpe Piazzola, which features a picnic area. Those looking for a shorter hike, will find several parkings along the road. 

In Castello dell'Acqua there area four hiking trails linking the Sentiero Valtellina to Alpe Piazzola, that is also crossed by the Gran via delle Orobie (the map can be downloaded hereafter).
