Travelling on a historic train offers the thrill of becoming immersed in a bygone atmosphere, where every detail, from the sound of the rails to the charm of the period carriages, will transport you into a unique experience.

Through historic villages, picturesque valleys, enchanting lakes and stunning mountain panoramas, each of these five itineraries is designed to offer unprecedented views of Lombardy, so that you can get to know and appreciate the many different facets of the region even more.

Lario Express — On the morning of 13 October, the Lario Express, a steam and electric train with elegant carriages from the 1930s and 1950s, departs from Milano Centrale. It crosses the Upper Brianza triangle travelling through scenic green and agricultural areas, passing through Como, to arrive in Lecco. You can choose to disembark at one of the stops along the route, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the area for a day.

Milano - Cremona — Every year Cremona hosts the Festa del Torrone (Nougat Festival), which pays homage to the famous traditional medieval sweet in a historical setting. It’s a perfect occasion to go to the city by vintage train, which departs from Milano Centrale station on 17 November. With its elegant 1950s carriages, the locomotive makes its outward journey in the morning and its return leg in the afternoon for a gastronomic experience that combines Cremona's historical and architectural beauty with a journey through time across the agricultural valley.

Milano - Laveno Mombello — The Milan - Laveno Mombello route offers charming views on a journey that will take you to the splendid panorama of the Borromean basin of Lake Maggiore. The date for your calendar is 17 November, when this electric locomotive and its 1920s carriages will set off from Milano Cadorna station, travelling along ever-changing landscapes, from the urban areas of the metropolis to the countryside of Lombardy, and on to the enchanting view of the lake that surrounds Laveno-Mombello. Once at your destination, you can spend a day out in the open air and, if you wish, re-board the Milan-Laveno Mombello for the return journey.

Sebino Express — On 20 October, it is the turn of the Sebino Express, a fascinating historic steam and electric train that crosses the Bergamo countryside. Departing early in the morning from Milano Centrale station, the vintage locomotive travels through the rolling hills of Franciacorta and the foothills of the Alps, to give you magical panoramic views of Lake Iseo and its historic villages. Once the Sebino Express reaches its destination, the enchanting historic village of Sarnico-Paratico, you can enjoy strolling along the lakefront and through the medieval streets.
