Isaac Julien. All That Changes You.
Metamorphosis To celebrate the five-hundredth anniversary of Palazzo Te, British artist and filmmaker Isaac Julien presents the world premiere of his new multi-screen film installation, All That Changes You. Metamorphosis, 2025 The project, curated by Lorenzo Giusti, is presented in the renovated spaces of the Fruttiere di Palazzo Te, which reopen for the occasion. The film, shot at Palazzo Te, stars internationally renowned actresses Sheila Atim and Gwendoline Christie.
The two performers take on the roles of celestial, prophetic and otherworldly entities, as if brought to life directly from the frescoes that decorate the palace walls. All That Changes You. Metamorphosis takes its cue from Giulio Romano's Renaissance architectural masterpiece and uses the sumptuousness of the palace and its frescoed walls to explore and reconsider themes of metamorphosis, philosophy, anthropology and ecology in the context of the contemporary world.
The film moves among diverse settings, including Charles Jencks' extraordinary postmodern Cosmic House in London and the lush forests of Redwood National and State Park in California, expanding reflections on the ethereal, the transcendent, and notions of time.
