In Morbegno on the Bridge in the Sky
It is the highest Tibetan bridge in Europe. It is called the "Bridge in the Sky."
With its record height of no less than 140 meters it connects the two sides of Val Tartano, at the mouth of Valtellina, between Morbegno and Sondrio.
Built by the Püstarèsc Consortium, the Bridge is 234 meters long, has a pavement made of 700 planks of larch wood from Val Tartano, and offers 360-degree panoramic views open to the imposing peaks and glaciers of the Rhaetian Alps, the Tartano valley, the Colombera dam, the fairy-tale Frasnino maggengo, and the Valtellina valley floor culminating in Lake Como for unforgettable sunsets.
Starting (or finishing)points : Campo Tartano, elevation 1,034.88 meters, and Frasnino, elevation 1038.77 meters, an intermediate stop to higher alpine pastures.
Online reservations can be made for visits (Saturday-Sunday-holiday-August) divided between morning (9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) and afternoon (1 p.m.-4:30 p.m.) at www.pontenelcielo.it
