The Printing Museum
The Printers’ Club "Soncino" is an important element of the ancient printing tradition in Soncino, imported from Germany by Israel Nathan da Spira. In 1483, only 28 years after the invention by Gutenberg, in Soncino it was printed the first book, one edition of the treaty "Benedizioni". Then the activity lasted till 1490, when Mr. da Spira had to leave the village because of the Catholic opposition. Among the most important books printed in Soncino, there are the Complete Bible of the year1488, the Berlin Bible and the Vernacular Works by Petrarca. You can find the Printers’ House in a building made in bricks which was in the past the seat of the Jewish printing house in Soncino.
