Tradition, Tastings and Local Products
On Sunday, 13 September 2026, Voghera celebrates one of the symbols of its local agricultural tradition with the Voghera Pepper Festival, an event dedicated to the promotion of peppers, local cuisine and the food and wine heritage of the Oltrepò Pavese area. The event will take place in Piazza Duomo in Voghera, from 9 am to 6 pm, with a farmers' market, tastings, talks and dishes prepared by restaurants and chefs belonging to the Slow Food Alliance.
The event is held with the patronage of the Municipality of Voghera, together with local organisations and associations including Slow Food Oltrepò Pavese, PepeVò, ITAS Carlo Gallini, Distretto del Cibo Bioslow Oltrepò Pavese, Coldiretti Pavia, Istituto Agrario Gallini, Istituto Casteggiaria, Slow Food Community and Torrevilla.
The Voghera Pepper Festival
The Voghera Pepper Festival was created to highlight a local agricultural product deeply connected with the history and gastronomic culture of Voghera and the Oltrepò Pavese area. For an entire day, Piazza Duomo becomes a meeting place dedicated to local producers, tastings and the discovery of regional food products.
The programme combines agricultural traditions, food education and local cuisine, giving visitors the opportunity to discover Voghera peppers through producers, experts, agricultural schools, associations and professional chefs.
Programme
The festival begins at 9 am with the opening of the market and producers' stalls under the arcades of Piazza Duomo.
At 9.30 am, the official opening ceremony will take place, accompanied by tastings organised by OPDF, Santa Chiara and Cantine Torrevilla, followed by an inaugural toast.
At 10.30 am, visitors can attend a discussion dedicated to Voghera peppers, organised by the Slow Food Presidium. Representatives of Slow Food Oltrepò Pavese, the University of Pavia, ITAS Carlo Gallini and local producers will take part, with an opportunity for the audience to join the discussion.
At 12 noon, a special risotto offering will be available to participants, organised by Agripavia. Torrevilla wine will also be available in Piazza Duomo, together with a food truck serving local products.
Tastings and Slow Food Alliance cuisine
One of the highlights of the Voghera Pepper Festival 2026 will be the tasting of dishes prepared by restaurants and chefs belonging to the Slow Food Alliance, starting at 2 pm.
The programme includes:
- 2 pm: La Pineta Restaurant, with chef Danilo Nembrini;
- 3.30 pm: Osteria del Campanile, with chef Maurizio Toscanini;
- 5 pm: Ristorante Selvatico, with Piera Spalla and Michela Selvatico.
The tastings will be accompanied by a presentation of local wines, organised with the collaboration of Mario Maffi.
A celebration of Oltrepò Pavese food and wine
The Voghera Pepper Festival is an opportunity to discover Voghera through one of its agricultural products while exploring the rich food and wine heritage of the Oltrepò Pavese.
The programme brings together local farmers, agricultural schools, associations, restaurants, chefs and wineries, creating an event that combines local products, cuisine, wine and regional culture.
For visitors exploring Voghera and the Oltrepò Pavese in September, the festival is also an opportunity to discover the wider tourist and gastronomic heritage of the Province of Pavia, including historic villages, rolling hills, vineyards and local food products.
