Markets in Como

Every Saturday, Piazza San Fedele in Como comes alive with the much-awaited and very well-known antique and artisan markets.

In the heart of the historical centre of Como, in amongst its seventeenth-century frescoed buildings, the beautiful Basilica of San Fedele, with its arched portico and on-trend shops, antique lovers, collectors and all those who love artisan objects can rifle through the stallholders' wares, looking for that rare piece, or even something new.

As is tradition, the first Saturday of the month is reserved for the Antiques Market, while the others feature artisan objects.

These markets are interesting opportunities for hunting down old articles, prints, records, photos, instruments, war souvenirs and handmade products at reasonable prices.

From early morning until late afternoon, antique dealers, second hand stall holders and artisans put their wares on show.

The same markets bring life to the square also during the long run up to Christmas, the stalls filled with candles, articles in wood and special fabrics, stones, costume jewellery, exotic articles and articles mainly linked to local culture.

Wandering among the stalls and snapping up bargains is an experience enhanced by the setting of the square with its historic feel.
