The Soapstone trail

A short loop trail that allows hikers to visit the ancient places where the renown soapstone of Pirlo used to be quarried and worked.

 Difference in altitude: 374 m
 Route time: 3.00 h

At the entry of Primolo (bus stop) starts the mule track that forwards in the wood of larches with some turns and then a level land. After passing two valleys and a bump, you can enjoy a beautiful sight on Valmalenco and Pizzo Scalino. Leave the path to Pradaccio to the right and go on close to the old water lathe for the manufacturing of the “ollare”
stone, after crossing the stream Sassersa. Passing the panoramic viewpoint called “Crun”, you will get to the extractive place and from there you can carry on to the beautiful lake of Alpe Pirlo. Follow the path on the left and go down to Primolo from the same itinerary of ascent.
