Palio del Baradello 2019

The event is a great opportunity to relive the history of Como with a series of events that recall the celebrations set up by the inhabitants of Como in March 1159 for the first visit of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa.
Program of the 39^ edition:
Friday 30 August, 08.30 PM – Basilica of Sant’Abbondio – Offer of the votive candle
Sunday 1 September 2019, 03.00 PM – Castel Baradello – Visit to the stone sentry and exhibition of various groups
Wednesday 4 September 2019 – 09.00 PM – Church of San Giacomo – Concert by the Celtic Harp Orchestra
Saturday 7 September 2019, 05.30 PM – Piazza Cavour, Piazza Duomo and Broletto – Emperor Federico Barbarossa landed in Como. 08.30 PM – Medieval dinner
Sunday 8 September 2019, 03.00 PM – Villa Olmo – Afternoon dedicated to children. 05.00 PM – From the shore in front of Villa Sucota. First official race: Regata delle Lucie
Thursday 12 September 2019, 05.00 PM – Appointment in front of the Civic Museums – Guided tour organized by the Comense Archaeological Society
Saturday 14 September 2019, 03.00 PM – Piazza Duomo. Broletto, Piazza Grimoldi – Official competition: tug of war. 06.00 PM – Medieval Focacceria. 09.00 PM – Official competition: Cariolana.
Sunday 15 September 2019, from 02.30 PM – From area Ippocastano to piazza Cavour – Great historical procession.
05.00 PM – Piazza Cavour – Spectacular performance of all the groups that participated in the parade. Awarding of the Palio, proclamation of the winner of the Palio 2019 and delivery of the cloth. In case of bad weather the parade will be moved to Sunday 22 September 2019.
Saturday 21 September 2019, 02.30 PM – Piazza Volta, via Grassi and via Garibaldi – Day for children and families.
In case of bad weather the event will be moved to Saturday 28 September 2019.
