Palio dei Castelli 2025
The most anticipated event in the "Island of Tuscany in Lombardy." The Palio in its 48th edition
The Palio dei Castelli was born on September 16, 1972, on behalf of a "handful" of Castiglione lovers, with the precise intent of making known, divulging, and appreciating the history of Castiglione Olona, a unique, centuries-old history; a history capable of serving as the plot of the event.
During the re-enactment, the historical procession composed of more than 250 figures in period costumes and expert flag-wavers, parade through the streets of the Borgo. Skilled bottari, divided among the eight Rioni, roll barrels in an exciting race through the medieval streets to Monteruzzo Castle to win the coveted banner.
In each edition, the Palio, painted by a different artist, represents the historical theme of the year and the eight contending districts. With the barrel race, the Pro Loco Castiglione Olona is associated with the Italian Federation of Historical Games.
