Lumere Festival

The long-awaited autumn event dedicated to the queen of the season is back: the pumpkin.

The Feast of the Pumpkins, promoted by the Mantuan Agritourism Consortium with the patronage of the Municipality of Mantua, celebrates an 'ancient peasant tradition that on All Saints' Eve illuminated the Mantuan countryside. Pumpkins, hollowed out and carved, became faces and fantastic figures to exorcise the fear of death and pay homage to the link between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

Today, the festival renews its popular spirit, transforming it into a day of creativity, taste and fun for the whole family, with activities designed especially for young children who can carve, color and discover all the wonders of this extraordinary vegetable.

Program of the day
10 a.m.-12 noon: children's workshop "Color Your Pumpkin" - free, reservation required

11:30 a.m.: percussion show with Moruga Drum

2-4 p.m.: children's workshop "Se-mi colori" - free, no reservation required

4 p.m.: magical soap bubble show with artist Billy Bolla

5 p.m.: traditional puppet show

Exhibition with 150 varieties of pumpkins to discover and photograph

Expert carvers at work, to admire live carving techniques

Themed street food: fried pumpkin, walking pumpkin tortelli, pies, cookies and many other delights

Farmer's market with farms and pumpkin products: mustards, jams, local specialties

A festival that combines tradition and creativity, amid autumn scents and smiles from young and old alike.
