Around Milan on the historic streetcars
One of the many beautiful things about Milan is the historic streetcars that still run through the city every day.
Streetcars are the most characteristic means of transportation to see the historical and architectural sights of the city while paying only the cost of a ticket.
A number of historic streetcars dating back to the early 1900s are still in circulation and are real gems that can offer a journey between past and present to the most beautiful corners of the city.
Some of the Milanese streetcars decommissioned at home have even flown overseas; in fact, it is possible to admire the "perteghette" or streetcars of the 1928 line rattling around California loaded with tourists.
True masterpieces of engineering and craftsmanship, the Atm cars are disassembled, overhauled and restored by specialized personnel who can take care of the oldest models, such as the "Carrelli" with their polished wooden interiors and inverted glass lamps that we can admire on the still active Line 1 on the route between Piazza Firenze - Castelli.
If you want to visit the city using historic streetcars, we recommend three lines that are still active, which are streetcar No. 1, 10 and 5. Visiting the city by streetcar is an alternative way to the usual guided tours and allows you to freely enjoy the beauty of the city by getting off at the stop you want, stopping as long as necessary and deciding where to go with complete peace of mind and above all very cheap but at the same time beautiful!
It is a free city experience in contact with the hustle and bustle of the Milanese.
