Local markets papiniano fauche etc

If you are looking for something, be it food, clothing or antiques, you can find it at the market!

During the week, including Saturdays, you can wander through the streets of Milan and find bargains in its local markets, an excellent opportunity also for enjoying the authentic atmospheres that characterise its inhabitants' daily life.

Milan's market stalls sell just about everything:food, fruit and vegetables, clothing and accessories, plants and flowers, antiques and things for the home. Each district in the city has its own local market, held between 7.30 am and 2.00 pm and, in some areas, on Saturdays until 6.00 pm.

The best known and busiest local market in Milan is the one in Vale Papiniano. Here, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, you can buy fruit, vegetables, the freshest fish and foods of all kinds, plus clothing and footwear. A careful search through its stalls will even yield clothing by the big name labels at very interesting prices.

One of the most stimulating and interesting local markets in Milan is the one in Via Fauché, also held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Famous for its good assortment of on-trend and vintage clothes, shoes and accessories of any kind. Here, with a little care and patience, you will find big label garments at extremely good prices and there is no lack of fruit and vegetable, either.

In addition to its local markets, Milan also has specialist markets that have become institutions, such as the renowned flea and antique markets, where you can truly find everything, from antiques to more unusual collectables.

A big antiques market is held along the banks of the historic Naviglio Grande, every last Sunday in the month, covering more than 2 km, running from the bridge on Via Valenza up to Via Gorizia. With plenty of exhibitors, who include collectors and small antique dealers, the really unique aspect of this market is its fascinating setting, with alleyways and sights that recall a mood from yesteryear. An interesting Milanese flea market can be found in Via Sacile, in the Ortomercato area. Most of the stalls here sell clothes, shoes, kitchen tools and children's toys and you can also find bikes and even silverware.
