It’s the perfect time to discover the cycle routes along the lakes, rivers and canals, where every turn of the pedals becomes an opportunity to watch the changing seasons and breathe in the cool autumn air.

The waterways between Milan and Brianza offer unique scenery: dark woods, quiet shores, and silent villages to accompany those who choose to explore the area by bike.

With ancient bridges, walkways over rivers, and small stopping points surrounded by green, in September the cycle paths invite you to slow down, look at the details, and let the panoramas astound you along the way.

Lake Annone cycle and pedestrian path (Lecco)
In the rolling hills of eastern Brianza, where the highlands meet the pre-Alps, Lake Annone extends before the eyes, smooth as a millpond, framed by woods and meadows. The cycle and pedestrian path forms a loop around the lake for some 14 kilometres, with its hidden landing points and memories of ancient villages.

Lake Garlate and Lake Olginate cycle route (Lecco)
Between the calm waters of the River Adda and the mountains reflected in the lakes, this route combines panoramic views, history, and literary references. Where the river Adda slows its course, the scenery becomes art, with traditional villages and hidden sanctuaries, mountain peaks in the background, and the views that inspired the unforgettable pages of Manzoni’s The Betrothed.

Lambro cycle route (Monza)
The River Lambro flows peacefully through Brianza, creating a route that crosses the Royal Villa of Monza, the Romanesque churches of Agliate, and small villages surrounded by woods and fields. The cycle route, which follows the river from Monza to Erba, is some 42 kilometres long, an invitation to let the rhythm of the waters set the pace as you discover landscapes that alternate nature with history and art.

In the heart of the Larian Triangle, Lake Segrino opens out like a little natural jewel, just a few kilometres from Como, Lecco and Erba. It is one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, surrounded by a protected nature reserve that protects an extraordinary biodiversity, offering authentic contact with nature.

West Adda cycle route (Lecco-Milan)
A fascinating route that combines nature, history and human ingenuity, the West Adda cycle route winds its way along the river between Lecco and Trezzo sull’Adda for about 50 kilometres. The recommended starting point is Pescate, where the river leaves Lake Como and flows southwards. In the first few kilometres, the route flanks Lake Garlate, with the Monte Barro Natural Park in the background, along with Lake Olginate.

Martesana cycle route (Milan)
In 1457 work was begun on the Martesana – also known as Naviglio Piccolo – a feat of engineering to which Leonardo da Vinci also contributed: a canal to join Milan, the Adda and Lake Como. The canal, built for Francesco Sforza, was a very important project and now with a cycle route alongside for over 30 kilometres.
