Vintage motorcycles museum

The Vintage motorcycles museum stems from the passion of a few motor enthusiasts and is located in the former primary school in Mossini - a small district of Sondrio along the street leading to Valmalenco. It displays the history of bikers and the vintage motorcycles of Valtellina, thanks to an exposition of “old ladies” - two wheelers of great charm. The museum can be visited upon reservation and hosts about fifty pieces, both complete vehicles and engines, as well as a rich collection of iconographic and illustrative material kept in some rooms of the former primary school, provided by the Municipality of Sondrio. The motorcycles are owned by members or supporters of the Motorcycle Club “Moto Storiche in Valtellina”, which brings together many aficionados who frequently meet on the roads of Valtellina on the occasion of enjoyable rallies and parade the old ladies up to the most famous alpine passes, ranging from Spluga to Stelvio and Gavia. The motorcycles on exhibit are regurarly replaced by others, making this museum always worth a visit.

Piazzi Observatory

Located in the municipality of Ponte in Valtellina, loc. San Bernardo, the Piazzi Astronomical Observatory conducts scientific research and organizes guided tours.   As far as scientific research is concerned, the observatory collaborates with the Minor Planet Center (MPC) for the study of so-called "minor planets," comets and asteroids of greater or lesser size. Guided tours, on the other hand, include a lecture on an astronomical theme followed by a visit to the dome with observations of the most interesting and visible objects at that time. The Observatory is named after Giuseppe Piazzi, a native of Ponte in Valtellina and a great astronomy scholar who in 1803 and 1814 saw his study catalogs awarded by theAcadèmie des Sciences in Paris.
