La settima edizione del Donizetti Opera, festival internazionale dedicato al compositore bergamasco, organizzato dalla Fondazione Teatro Donizetti presieduta da Giorgio Berta con la direzione generale di Massimo Boffelli, la direzione artistica di Francesco Micheli e quella musicale di Riccardo Frizza, si svolgerà a Bergamo “Città di Gaetano Donizetti” dal 18 novembre al 5 dicembre 2021.

È formata da tre titoli operistici, una nuova creazione e una serie di appuntamenti concertistici e attività collaterali che verranno dettagliati nei prossimi mesi: serata inaugurale (18 novembre) con il basso bergamasco Alex Esposito e gli allievi della Bottega Donizetti da lui curata per un inedito operashow intitolato "C’erano una volta due bergamaschi…", quindi nel Teatro Donizetti restaurato L’elisir d’amore (19 e 28 novembre, 5 dicembre) e La fille du régiment (21 e 26 novembre, 3 dicembre) di Donizetti e Medea in Corinto di Giovanni Simone Mayr (20 e 27 novembre, 4 dicembre) al Teatro Sociale.
