BIENNALE MONZA 2025
11th Biennial of Academies
Opening Friday, November 14, at 18.00
From November 14, 2025 to January 6, 2026, the Monza Biennial, now in its eleventh edition, returns to enliven the spaces of the Belvedere of Villa Reale.
Promoted by the Municipality of Monza and the Rotary Club Monza, the review is confirmed among the most important artistic events in the city, involving ten Italian Academies of Fine Arts, each represented by young artists. TheISIAs participate with multiple authors, in line with the idea of a collective laboratory.
The project revolves around key words such as openness, multidisciplinarity, contamination and innovation, welcoming all art forms without barriers or boundaries between languages.
The event presents itself as a meeting point of languages and disciplines: painting, photography, sculpture and graphics intertwine in an "expressive polyphony" that restores the vitality of the contemporary art scene.
Scientific director Daniele Astrologo Abadal anticipates the novelties of the 2025 edition: "The Biennale confirms its ability to welcome artistic tradition and technological innovation in the halls of the Belvedere, with a special focus on the phenomenon of artificial intelligence. Absolute novelty for our field of investigation testifying to the fact that the time is ripe. Art assimilates the new processes, makes them its own and uses them to address the critical issues present in history and society, in the identity of the individual and in the ambiguous boundaries of an increasingly deceptive and artifactual reality. This radical aspect is accompanied by the more traditional lexicon of painting, photography, and sculpture, under the banner of a layered and complex history of art."
The Councillor for Culture Arianna Bettin: "The Monza Biennial represents a heritage of great value for the city. An appointment that renews the cultural vocation of the Villa Reale and strengthens the dialogue with the country's art institutions. This eleventh edition confirms the desire to offer space to young talents, recognizing in the Academies fertile laboratories of ideas and experimentation. In a time crossed by profound transformations, the ability of art to question the present and open new scenarios becomes a collective good. We are proud that Monza continues to be a place where emerging creativity can grow, confront itself and speak to the public with ever new languages, capable of uniting tradition with the future."
