Le Bine Regional Nature Reserve Oasis is located on the grounds of a Site of Community Importance in the municipalities of Calvatone (Cr) and Acquanegra sul Chiese (Mn).

It is also a Special Protection Area in the Oglio Sud Regional Park.

Le Bine WWF Oasis, was founded to protect the swamp (known by locals as the  "dead Oglio"), an old meander of the river Oglio which was cut off from the river following a corrective intervention carried out in the second half of the 1700s.

Three key players are involved in the Oasis: the property, the WWF with its conservation, study and teaching activities, and a farm that promotes rural tourism and biocompatible agriculture.

The swamp constitutes the heart of the Oasis where one of Europe's rarest amphibians lives: the Lataste frog, the symbol of the Oasis.

Renaturalization efforts have been carried out in the area (replacing cultivated areas with woods and ponds), while in rural areas the poplar trees  have been replaced by mixed plantings with native hardwoods: some of these trees are destined to be cut (in rotation) while others are intended to populate the forest.
