16th Olympic Games of Violin-making

4 settembre - 10 ottobre 2021

The competition is taking place in Cremona, at the Violin’s Museum, from the 4th of September to the 10th of October 2021. In this difficult moment it is necessary to live today and to face the future, planning the best for our town and for all the citizens. This is the sense of the Olympics of Violin-making and of this initiative of the Violin’s Museum.
The regulation, shared with the violin-makers’ professional associations, contains the rules of this competition which aims at enhancing in the best way the skills of the competitors. The participants can present only new instruments, made after the year 2018 and in line with the classic violin-making style. But there are also some interesting news: for the first time are admitted materials made in metal, but only for some specific parts.  The soul, for example, that is the element which makes the instrument play, must be made only in wood.
The center of this event will be the Violin’s Museum and the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi, a perfect music hall where the musicians will test the instruments. The prize-giving ceremony will take place on the 22nd of September at the Theatre Ponchielli. The instruments of the competition will be on display till the 10th of October at the Violin’s Museum.
