Roman paved road

The remains of two Roman roads were discovered in 1967 during work on the Chamber of Commerce building. These are pavements made of stone slabs (bàsoli) with a smooth upper surface and a wedge-shaped lower surface for greater penetration into the ground.

 The road is one of the minor cardines of the Roman city, parallel to the cardo maximus (now Corso Campi, Via Verdi and Via Monteverdi) and intersects one of the decumani (now Via Jacini, Cavallotti and Cavour). In addition to its archaeological value, the discovery was fundamental for understanding the urban layout of the Roman city, founded in 218 BC.
