Churches Como

Como, appreciated for the beauty of its landscapes, combines beautiful villas and glimpses of the lake with beautiful churches

Churches Como. Have you chosen to spend your holidays at the zone of the Lario? Discover the outstanding churches of Lombardy with the information we provide in the current page.

Tourism in Como often includes seeing aristocratic manors facing its famous Lake. Torusists who consider visiting churches in Como will be pleased from a historical and artistic standpoint.

The Cathedral or Duomo, as it is called by locals, is one of the most particular churches in Lombardy. Here you can admire the Adoration of the Magi by Bernardino Luini and tapestries made between the XVIth and the XVIIth centuries following the designs of Giuseppe Arcimboldo.

Go to the Basilica of Sant'Abbondio as well, being the second in importance in the city. The structure was consacrated in 1095 by Pope Urban II. Then there is the one of St Augustine, featuring Reinassance frescoes.

Do not miss the basilicas of San Carpoforo, the one of San Fedele, built in 1120 and that of the Santissimo Crocifisso, which owes its name to a wooden cross that is displayed in processions of Good Friday.

Enjoying tourism in Como also means visiting interesting churches like the Madonna del Ghisallo Sanctuary. It harbors the cyclism museum and guards the bicycles and heirlooms of champions such as Bartali and Coppi.
